Sunday brunch...

Danas, kratko javljanje uz kratki outfit post, nastao prošle nedelje tokom viđanja sa mojom dragom Marijom. Pakovanja su mi jedna od namrskijih stvari, a kako za par sati putujem u svoj rodni grad, jedno me upravo čeka. 

Stoga, žurim da napunim svoje kofere a vas ostavljam novom postu.

Statement Jewellery

Image: Quick post before I dash out for the afternoon. Meet my new hand-made necklace. It's a present from a dear friend. I'm still thinking if it appeals to my mad sense of fashion;-)

Paris: Monday evening's supper

Family. The aunt is currently in Paris from London. We spent the day swanning from coffee houses, antiquarian book shops, flea markets, jewellery stores, art galleries, restaurants, with a final stop at the young designer's boutique, Claudine Ivari.

I assure you I was exhausted after this roll call of events. We had planned on dining out, but opted for an informal round- table supper at the house.


Sister made Asparagus and cheese blinzes for the main course, and I made Sachertorte for the pudding course, brother made Caribbean-style spinach with roasted almonds for the first course. The Sachertorte was quite a challenge....

It isn't the easiest dish to prepare. I shall follow my aunt's advise: No excellence can be aquired without constant practise. Advise noted. Sachertorte baking party already planned for March. xx

''Fashion'' is more than a fashion...

U svom garderoberu čuvam poseban odeljak za komade koji pored svoje materijalne, imaju i onu drugu, emotivnu vrednost. Uspomene sa putovanja, pokloni dragih ljudi, komadi koji sećaju na neke lepe trenutke... Ili, u ovom slučaju, komad koji nastane za manje od 24 sata po genijalnoj zamisli i pod talentovanim prstima, koga drugog do, moje mame. Kako su dizajn i realizacija istog u potpunosti njena zasluga, meni je jedino preostalo da svaku ispletenu petlju ponosno prošetam. Treba li napominjati da sam to uradila sa uživanjem.

 Dok sam tokom subotnjeg popodneva krala po koji zrak žilavog februarskog sunca, podsetila sam se one velike istine da je ''moda'' daleko više od listanja magazina, skrolovanja modnih portala, posećivanja revija i svega propratnog. Nekad je ona samo delić čarolije tokom kojeg se klupče vune pretvara u nešto lepo, unikatno i emotivno vredno. 

Ostatak čarolije spada pod kategoriju talenat. Ali to je, barem u ovom slučaju, već mamin fah ;)

In my closet I keep a separate section for pieces that besides their material, have also the emotional value. Memories from trips, gifts from dear people, pieces that recall some memorable moments... Or in this case, a piece that was made in less than 24 hours by talented fingers of my mom. As the design and realisation were her ''fault'', I had just one duty: to wear proudly each knitted loop. Should I mention that I did it with more than a pleasure.
  While I was stealing some February sun, during this Saturday afternoon,  I remembered the main truth about '' fashion'': it is far more than reading fashion magazines, scrolling fashion portals, attending fashion shows. Sometimes it is just a piece of magic during which the clew of wool is turned into something beautiful, unique and emotionally valuable. The rest falls under the category of talent.

Fancy Feet

My friends and I passed the afternoon on Saturday colouring our worn shoes and nibbling on aged cheese. After hours of shoe colouring, two bottles of French wine and sweet laughter. C, my childhood friend, suggested we hang the freshly painted footwear in the lone tree outside her house, like artworks in the Mona Bismarck Foundation in Paris.

'Winter is so dull', she told us. 'One must be creative in this season even if it means colouring one's shoes a bright neon/orange, and hanging them in the tree to startle the equally dull neighbours'. We all laughed merrily at this, like children.





First and third images were taken outside the shows at Paris couture week.The second image was taken on Saturday. Trust everyone had a nice weekend. Here's to a positive week. xx
